The Saint Joseph’s University Fellowships Office is pleased to announce that Molly Porth, an SJU senior, has received a Fulbright award to teach English in Mexico. A native of Havertown, Pennsylvania, she came to us from the Country Day School of the Sacred Heart. Ms. Porth will complete a double major in English and Spanish, with a minor in Faith/Justice. She has been a member of the Honors Program since her freshman year and she was inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu, the Jesuit Honors Society, as a junior. She studied abroad for a semester at Alberto Hurtado, the Jesuit university in Santiago, Chile, and has travelled independently to Kenya to work for two weeks at Dagoretti 4 Kids (D4K), a nonprofit home for street boys of Nairobi. She has been active participant in service programs throughout her four years, including Appalachian Experience, Habitat for Humanity, and the summer immersion trip to Tijuana and El Hongo, Mexico, a trip she will co-lead this summer. During her senior year, she also found time to be Head Team Manager of SJU’s Varsity Men’s Basketball team, and to serve as Secretary of Harambee African Awareness.
